Job Description

Chesterton Academy of the Rogue Valley is a joyful, classical high school, rooted in the Catholic faith. We are seeking a talented and dynamic full-time Humanities teacher to join our team starting in the 2024-25 academic year. We offer a competitive salary and a faith-filled, Catholic environment.

Full-time and Part-time positions are available in a combination of classes in History, Literature, Philosophy, and Theology. We may also consider willingness to teach courses in Math, Science, Drama, or Debate. Our school is part of a schools' network and we are able to provide detailed course plans and materials. Class sizes average 9-12 students. We are incredibly flexible to work your availability into our schedule.

A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in a related field is preferred. Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred. Experience in and passion for Catholic classical education is a bonus. The ideal candidate will have an understanding and appreciation of an integrated curriculum which allows for the connection between the humanities and the arts/sciences. Experience with teaching using Socratic Seminar is a bonus.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic able to actively mentor the students in the faith, and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, classroom management and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academy participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness. Faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body and assist in leading spiritual retreats and school activities.

Job Requirements:

• Must be practicing Roman Catholic and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic secondary education (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
• Master's Degree (Preferred)
• 3-5 years of teaching experience in secondary school (Preferred)
• 2+ years teaching experience in a classical school environment (Preferred)
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills (Required).
• Background check to work with minors (Required)
• Committed to the mission of Chesterton Schools Network and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
