Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary assistant to the Controller. Assists with
Managing all accounting transactions including, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and accrual preparation
Producing monthly budget reports, financial statements, and analysis
Monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
Implementation of internal controls and improved accounting policies and procedures
Monitor and report on cash flow
Assist the bookkeeper with payroll, sick and vacation accrual
Billing and collecting for risk insurance, benefits and assessment
Assists with enrollment and managing employee changes in the benefits system
Performing other accounting and general office duties as required

Qualifications
Experience with several accounting platforms and how data is used, so that new technology is understood quickly; ability to vet new software and train others in its use.
Proficient in the use of office technology including Microsoft Office software, advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets
Ability to work independently
Analytical skills
Accounting Degree
Prefer a minimum of 4-6 years of accounting. Knowledgeable and supportive of the Catholic faith. Understanding of endowments and financial /investment knowledge helpful.
Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
