Job Description
The Chancery (administrative offices) of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Grand Island is seeking a Director of Finance. This is a full-time position with benefits located in Grand Island, Nebraska. The Director of Finance has oversight of all financial and related functions as specified in Canon 494 and supports the Bishop by exercising vigilance over the administration of the temporal goods of the Diocese.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee diocesan finance office staff and financial programs including the accounting function for accounts receivable, loans, deposits, and accounts payable and human resource function for payroll and employee benefits.
• Implement and evaluate financial policies and practices of the diocese to ensure financial goals and objectives are met in accordance with canon law, policies established by the Bishop, and governmental regulations.
• Collaborate with the diocesan finance council and other consultative bodies established by the Bishop.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for diocesan administrative offices, diocesan management, and the diocesan finance council.
• Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
• Assist in review of contracts, trusts, deeds, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Oversee the investment of the diocesan investment portfolio and deposit and loan funds.
• Engage and interact with legal counsel on diocesan financial affairs.
• Oversee the planning and completion of the annual financial audit.
• Establish and ensure standard operating procedures for parish financial practices and reporting.
• Act as a financial resource for parishes regarding accounting, human resources, and property insurance and claims.
Qualifications
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with an understanding of and dedication to the mission of Jesus Christ and the Roman Catholic Church.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration. Master's Degree or CPA preferred.
• Must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
• Experience in nonprofit leadership and fund accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
