Children's Faith Formation Coordinator

Job Description

St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Columbus, IN, is seeking a full-time Children's Faith Formation Coordinator. St. Bartholomew has a very successful, well-established Children's Faith Formation program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic Pastoral Team that works collaboratively to provide Christ-centered programs for adult parishioners of all ages.

The Children's Faith Formation Coordinator will design, develop, and implement programs to aid the spiritual growth of children in the St. Bartholomew community. The USCCB states, "The most important task of the catechesis of children is to provide, through the witness of adults, an environment in which young people can grow in faith." The USCCB says, "Having introduced them to the person of Jesus Christ within the family, catechesis for school-age children presents his teachings, his ministry, and the major events of his life. Children can begin to appreciate the parables of Jesus and capture glimpses of the Kingdom of God; they can learn more formal prayers; and they can commit brief passages of Sacred Scripture to memory."

The Children's Faith Formation Coordinator focuses on the catechetical development of all children from preschool through grade 6. In addition, sacramental preparation for all parish children is a fundamental responsibility of this position. The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing curricula for young children.

Candidates should possess good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and a firm knowledge of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Candidates must be fully initiated, practicing Roman Catholics who are living a life that is in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Bilingual is preferred.
