Office of Parish Leadership Formation
The Diocese of Metuchen serves a Catholic community of nearly 600,000 people throughout Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren counties. Presently, we seek an individual to design, establish, oversee and facilitate comprehensive programs and services that prepare lay ministers to perform ministerial roles in the service of the local church. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Exploring and evaluating college and university programs, as well as distance learning venues, for the educational formation of lay parish ministers
- Researching best practices for the development of formation and certification programs
- Recommending, designing and implementing appropriate formation programs for lay parish ministers
- Recruiting program participants, workshop instructors and speakers
- Developing and conducting workshops and presentations for lay ministers and parish pastoral councils
- Maintaining a resource center in the areas of lay ministry formation, parish life and leadership and collaborative ministry
Education/Experience: Master¡¦s degree (M. A.) in Theology or Religious Studies (or equivalent) and five years of experience in parish/diocesan ministry; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
Religious Requirement: Must be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and Church hierarchy
