Job Summary:
Responsible to articulate and direct an effective strategy to advance the agency's advancement in leadership giving, to engage agency executives and board members in the fundraising process and to provide leadership to the agency's major gift officers in cultivating and soliciting leadership and major gifts, with an emphasis on gifts of $1 million and above. The person will maintain and solicit a personal portfolio and be directly involved in donor cultivation and involvement.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
a. Shape, articulate, and oversee the implementation of a strategy to increase the number of donors making leadership and pacesetting philanthropic commitments to the agency.
b. Engage and involve executive leadership and board members in cultivating and soliciting leadership giving prospects.
c. Involve volunteers in the leadership giving process.
d. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the leadership giving strategy.
e. Collaborate with agency leadership to create viable giving opportunities for leadership and major donors.
2. Supervisory responsibilities
a. Provide direct supervision of leaders of teams of major gifts officers who are based throughout the U.S.
b. Mentor and advise individual major gifts officers in partnership with team leaders.
c. Oversee shaping and implementation of performance plans for all major gifts officers.
3. Cultivation and solicitation of leadership and pacesetting gifts
a. Identify and manage the cultivation of prospects with substantial philanthropic capacity, involving senior executives and volunteers in the process
b. Work with senior major gifts officers to identify and cultivate prospects.
c. Cultivate and solicit a personal portfolio.

7. Comfortable with extensive domestic travel and periodic overseas travel with prospects and donors
8. Curiosity, sense of humor, high energy level, and an enthusiasm for meeting and working with a wide range of individuals.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in related field and/or CFRE preferred.
2. Proven track record in leadership level fundraising, including successful solicitation and closing of gifts of $1 million and above.
3. Proven track record of successfully involving executives, board members and volunteers in the leadership giving process.
4. Minimum ten years experience in development field with an emphasis on major giving.
5. Must be Catholic.
6. Demonstrated ability to mentor major gifts fundraisers.
7. Working knowledge of prospect tracking systems and donor data bases.
8. Capacity to work effectively within the structure of the U.S. Catholic Church.
9. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
10. Relocation to Baltimore preferred.
