St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish in College Station, TX is seeking an experienced Director of Middle School Youth Ministry with responsibilities also of Assistant Director of Faith Formation. Responsibilities would include: Oversight of Faith Formation classes and programs for grades 7th and 8th grades, sacramental record documentation, Ethics and Integrity documentation, order books and supplies, plan and direct retreats and lock-ins, and other administrative duties. This person will be part of a team ministering to the youth of our parish. This person will have proficiency in administration, good people skills in working with 7th & 8th graders and parents, and good team work skills.
College Station, home of Texas A&M University, is a very fast growing community. Our parish is 25 years old with over 1400 families and more than 900 children and teens in our religious education program. Parishioner average age is 30. St. Thomas Aquinas is a very active parish with over 60 different ministries.

Director of Middle School Youth Ministry/Assistant Director of Faith Formation
Catechetical Responsibilities
- Oversee Faith Formation classes and programs (i.e. Cornerstone) grades 7th & 8th
- Facilitate Sunday evening middle school RE program, i.e. Cornerstone
- Facilitate Monday evening middle school bible study, The Inheritance
- Consult with catechists regarding active learning approaches for middle school students
- Assist with catechist training workshops
- Support Director of Faith Formation in First Penance/First Communion sacramental preparation programs and the assistance of planning First Reconciliation and First Communion liturgy
- Implement Call to Protect for Youth program for the sixth and ninth grades
- Assist volunteers in finding substitutes when needed
Administrative Responsibilities
- Sacramental record documentation (after packets are completed and submitted) both in books and online
- Process Faith Formation registration
- Maintain Ethics and Integrity records for the parish
- Assist with RCIA sacramental records
- Work in cooperation with pastor and parish business administrator, other staff, parish councils and committees
- Attend all parish staff meetings
- Attend monthly Faith Formation staff meetings
- Actively represent parish faith formation program at deanery and diocesan events
- Support coordination of adult volunteer teams in middle school ministry for grades 7th & 8th
- Prepare w/ Directors of Faith Formation and HS Youth Ministry operating budget for Faith Formation, allocation and management of budget (in conjunction with the parish business administrator and director of faith formation)
- Order books and supplies
- Maintain records of special events and 2nd grade sacramental preparation program
- Coordinate volunteers
Special Events
- Plan and direct fall and spring retreats
- Plan & Facilitate fall and spring/summer lock-ins
- Facilitate high school youth Passion Play (i.e. practices, performances, etc.) during Lenten season
- Assist Director of High School Youth Ministry with retreats, Confirmation program, etc.
- Assist with sacramental retreats
- Assist Director of Faith Formation with special family events, such as Meet the Catechist/Faith Formation Kickoff, Festival of Saints, Blessing of the Animals, Mardi Gras, etc.
- Assist with catechist appreciation dinner and end of the year catechist recognition
- Create flyers for special events
- Assist Directors of Faith Formation and HS Youth Ministry in the Advent and Christmas programs
Goals
- Keep current all sacramental records
- Make current all Ethics and Integrity records
- Work with diocese and DRE to certify and train catechists
- Work with diocese and DRE to improve program for teens with special needs
