POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry & Evangelization

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PAY RANGE: $66,560 - $70,500

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Office of Evangelization & Faith Formation

REPORTS TO: Director of Evangelization & Faith Formation

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Young adult and adult volunteers and/or interns as well as other staff that may collaborate on parish young adult ministry initiatives.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Working with Diocesan Staff at the Pastoral Center as well as Young Adult Leaders from across the Diocese of Orange

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry & Evangelization will primarily be responsible to ensure the sharing of Jesus Christ' mission to all Young Adults, ages 18-39 in the parish as well as its boundary that encompasses the city of La Habra; through a comprehensive young adult ministry vision that aligns to the parish and serves young adults who are college-age, professional-age, singles, couples and young families. This position includes evenings and weekends.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities of a Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry and Evangelization include:
1. Analyze and identify the needs and ways to engage the various young adult communities.
2. Develop a strategic vision that aligns with the parish vision and plan to increase the participation of young adults in the parish with a short and long-term approach.
3. Identify and promote effective models for ministry to and with young adults of the parish and wider community.
4. Provide and maintain effective modes of communication with YA (i.e. website, social media, text messages etc.).
5. Research, review, and recommend YAM resources and programs.
6. Receive ongoing formation, training and continuously be growing in holiness and best ministerial practices.
7. Ensure that all young adult stages of life are being served, ministered to and evangelized (i.e. college-aged, professional-aged, singles, couples, young families)
8. Strive to recognize and facilitate diversity within young adult demographic segments within the context of a united body of young adults versus the creation and maintenance of separate young adult programs.
9. Participate in preparation, implementation, and management of departmental budget, especially when it comes to Young Adult Ministry efforts.
10. Create and present quarterly reports of successes, ministry learnings and best practices to ensure the highest quality young adult ministry is being offered at the parish.
11. Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the vision and goals of the parish.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains positive working relationship and communication with parish leadership.
• Coordinates & collaborates with efforts of other parishes and/or diocesan departments, especially the Diocesan Youth & Young Adult Ministry office.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:
• Practicing Catholic with knowledge of parish Youth and Young Adult Ministry
• Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to multi-task and attention to detail
• Excellent writing, spelling and grammar skills and experience writing articles, announcements, short messages, blog entries, editing website, and other possible written materials.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting and environment.
• Five years of successful experience(s) working with young adults in a professional and/or ministerial setting
• Master's degree in theology, Religious Studies or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher etc. and some basic website editing and managing social media
• Valid California Driver's License

DESIRED:
• Advanced computer skills in coding, programming and/or graphic designs
• Bilingual - English/Spanish/Vietnamese
• Effective public speaking skills and ability to facilitate large and small groups.
• Experience in organizing small and large events for a diverse audience.
• Ability to design curricula and develop programs.
• Certificate in Youth Ministry or equivalent (i.e., Theology Certificate, Biblical Studies, Master Catechist etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Working Conditions: Typical office environment as well as travelling to various locations to meet and be present where young adults congregate.
• Equipment Operation: Multi-line telephone, computer, tablet, fax machine, multi-copier, scanner, paper shredder and calculator.
• Physical Tasks: Carrying and setting up for meeting, gatherings (ie. water bottles, drinks, pastries, water jugs etc.)
