Job Description

EXPECTATIONS:

The DNP, ARNP, MD, ND, or PA assists with the provision of medical services under the supervision of the Clinic Director. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will acknowledge in writing their agreement to comply with the organization's Behavioral Commitments document as well as all other applicable policies.

JOB SUMMARY: If a Nurse Practitioner, the Nurse Practitioner is a Washington State licensed ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) or DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) who leads and supervises the clinical care of patients. The practitioner ensures that care is conducted in accordance with established standards of care and organizational policies and procedures. The practitioner works with the Clinic Director to develop and write clinical policies and procedures, to monitor compliance and to conduct quality improvement programs. In accordance with Washington State nursing scope of practice WAC 246-840-300: The registered ARNP performs acts that require substantial knowledge, judgment, and skill based on the principles of biological, behavioral, health, and nursing sciences. Thus, the Clinical Nurse Practitioner oversees and participates in patients' physical, emotional, behavioral and spiritual assessment, treatment or intervention, and case management. The Nurse Practitioner will play an integral role in the education and training of paid and volunteer staff, including pregnancy and other topics pertinent to the services provided. The Clinical Nurse Practitioner also participates in representing the clinic to patients, donors and outside entities.

If a Physician Assistant (PA), the PA is a Washington State licensed PA who leads and supervises the clinical care of patients. The practitioner ensures that care is conducted in accordance with established standards of care and organizational policies and procedures. The practitioner works with the Clinic Director to develop and write clinical policies and procedures, to monitor compliance and to conduct quality improvement programs. The PA will practice in accordance with Washington State PA scope of practice and delegation agreements WAC 246-918-055. Thus, the PA oversees and participates in patients' physical, emotional, behavioral and spiritual assessment, treatment or intervention, and case management. The PA will play an integral role in the education and training of paid and volunteer staff, including pregnancy and other topics pertinent to the services provided. The PA also participates in representing the clinic to patients, donors and outside entities.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Licensure:

Women's health care experience in an ARNP, DNP, MD, ND, or PA role

Graduated from an accredited medical program

Active, unrestricted Washington State ARNP, DNP, MD, ND, or PA License

AWHONN certification in limited obstetrical ultrasound or comparable certification (may be accomplished after hire)

Current and active NPI and DEA

Current provider care in BLS (may be accomplished after hire)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Works collaboratively with the Clinic Director to promote care of patients according to the organizational mission and values.

Contributes to a positive and hospitable environment for patients and guests.

Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to clinical aspects of providing health care. Develops reports as required.

Along with Medical Director ensures compliance with accepted standards of care and professional guidelines such as those published by ACOG, AWHONN, CDC and other appropriate organizations.

Attends appropriate continuing education and educates self on aspects of women's health care appropriate to the services provided by the clinic.

Accesses and recommends patient education materials or assists in their development as needed.

Provide women's health exams, including pelvic exams, pap tests, and breast exams.

Provide full scope STI testing and treatment.

Provide patient pregnancy and health education, and referrals.

Triages patients in person and via phone.

Provide holistic care to patients relating to their physical, spiritual, and emotional health.

Participates with or works under the direction of the Physician to develop and implement the plan of care.

Works with CMA and Medical volunteers to provide the nursing component of patient care.

Analyzes diagnostic / lab test results and relays that information to the Physician under the direction of the Physician communicates results to patients.

Communicates with patients as directed by the Physician.

Notifies Physician of critical issues and results in a timely manner.

Provides safe patient care.

Performs office laboratory testing according to practice protocols. Maintains necessary training and certification as applicable.

Review any clinical findings indicating concern for the viability of the pregnancy or health of the patient with the Clinic Director as needed.

Follows and monitors compliance with policies and procedures for reports of ultrasounds, laboratory tests, and other medical tests performed either internally or referred externally.

Completes medical record documentation consistent with ARNP or PA function and role.

Assists Sonographers and Physicians as requested.

Accountable for following the guidelines for attendance, punctuality. and overall dependability.

Accountable for effective performance and follow-through of all assigned responsibilities and for completing responsibilities within designated (or agreed upon) timeframes. Completes responsibilities in a manner consistent with organizational policy, goals, and values.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinic Director.

Work collaboratively with the Administrative department and attend promotional events when needed.

Reports to Clinic Director all Administrative related issues or personnel related issues that may come up such as but not limited to request for time off.

Must give WAMS and 3W Medical for Women permission to video and take pictures of an employee for all promotional materials and where it is appropriate for the use of employee images.
