Job Description

Primary Function: Oversee and supervise a comprehensive Pre-K through 8 catechetical program which is family focused and manages sacramental preparation of children and youth. Works collaboratively and in concert with the youth minister for alternative middle and high school faith formation. Leadership, administration, coordination, education and enhancement of faith formation and evangelization of children and youth through the teachings of the Catholic Church is expected.

Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive Faith Formation program for school aged children Pre-K - 8 and parents.
- Direct the sacramental preparation programs including RCIC with children - First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
- Recruit, train and provide continuing education to catechists involved in every aspect of faith formation program.
- Provide ongoing assessment of the various models of faith formation and identify models that support the needs of the students and their families to encourage participation.
- Identify models of faith formation that support special needs children.
- Evaluate, design/select and implement the appropriate faith formation curriculums that support lifelong faith formation and meets the needs of the faith community.
- Ensures the faith formation program is properly staffed through ongoing recruitment, training, supervision and support of volunteer catechists.
- Develop various online resources for use by families throughout the year on the parish website, social media that parents can access to engage in the faith formation of their children.
- Works collaboratively with youth minister in providing middle and high school faith formation and explore models of building an intergenerational community with youth and seniors working together.
- Works collaboratively with Safe Environment coordinator to assure that all catechists and other volunteers are current in safe environment clearances.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education, Theology or equivalent
- Masters degree (optional)
- Minimum of 3-5 yrs experience working in religious education/formation. If degrees are in other fields, religious education/formation experience and verification is required. Certification may be required as directed by the Pastor.

Special Requirements
- Team building with co-workers and building relationships with parents.
- Computer literacy especially in the use of social media and online learning.
- Will not be satisfied with status quo but always be forward looking and be open to new and better ways to share the faith and engage others.
