JOB DETAILS
Minimum Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry or other related field. Minimum 1 to 3 years experience working in ministry with some volunteer work considered. Candidate must be a Catholic possessing knowledge and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ability to articulate this to incarcerated Catholics. Must also have the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in helping inmates transform their lives. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) required.
Brief Summary of Duties:
1. Work primarily with the Hispanic population at the Metropolitan Washington DC Department of Corrections
2. Provide individual guidance and assistance to those who are incarcerated.
3. Helps those who do not have an adequate understanding of English to navigate the criminal justice system.
4. Liaison with both volunteer and professional associations who assist inmates while imprisoned and upon their release.
5. Assist volunteer prison chaplains in Montgomery, Prince George's, St Mary's, Calvert and Charles Counties.
