The Department of Education seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level, to begin Fall 2009. The department is an energetic team that works closely with local school system partners to develop educators who are proficient in content and pedagogy, reflective, and ethical professionals dedicated to leadership in an increasingly diverse technological and global society. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, scholarly research and writing, academic advising, and service to the department, university, profession, and the public.
The successful candidate's research and teaching will address some combination of the following: instructional strategies to improve reading achievement, reading in the content areas, technology, educational research, and multicultural education.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate, K-12 teaching experience, and evidence of scholarly potential. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent human relations skills and a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. Candidates who have experience working with diverse social and cultural groups or working in a Professional Development School are asked to highlight those experiences in the application letter.
