We are seeking an experienced, energetic Acquisition Editor for our trade books. Care to join us?
Acquisition Editor
As the Acquisition Editor, you will work with Authors to develop a manuscript while exhibiting excellent editing, a solid grounding in Catholic beliefs and practices and the ability to work within a vision and focus established by the publishing house. While reporting to the Editorial Director, you will work in collaboration with other acquisition editors and marketing staff to identify new market and product niches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism; Theology helpful
- 5+ years experience in Catholic book publishing, preferably in the acquisitions process
- Ability to acquire and evaluate manuscripts
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Strong analytical and business skills
- Exceptional follow-through, author management, organizational skills and deadline management
- Knowledge of contracts and copyright
- Desire to produce needed, well-developed materials
- Availability to travel
