NATURE OF WORK:
Reporting to the Director of Information Services, the part-time Reference Librarian provides reference and research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and others using a variety of electronic and print resources. Reference Librarian also provides library orientation and instruction in using library resources to individuals and groups. **14 hours per week including evenings and weekends.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Provides skilled reference support in person, by telephone, and by electronic means to students, faculty, administrators and community members in accordance with the library's mission and user service guidelines.
2. Participates in library's instruction program as assigned.
3. Works as part of teams, engaging in ongoing projects and initiatives such as web page development and maintenance.
4. Recommends appropriate information sources for the reference collection and assigned departments.
5. Provides user services such as technology problem reporting as needed.
6. Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
The successful candidate will have earned a M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. from an American Library Association accredited institution and have demonstrated knowledge of electronic and traditional reference resources, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: effective written and oral communication skills; effective instructional skills including the ability to develop instructional materials, and to present instruction to students and faculty; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
