Background:
The Catholic Newman Center serves the faculty, staff, and students at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). This is a predominately commuter campus serving a wide range of traditional and non-traditional students. Approximately 15,000 students are enrolled on campus. About 1,200 live in campus sponsored housing, and the rest commute. These demographics influence the unique challenges and opportunities at the Catholic Newman Center.
Catholic campus ministry provides a connection between students and the church. Since major life decisions occur during a college experience, it is necessary to provide faith-based support and opportunities for our church community. We strive to support UMSL students with creative programming, spiritual growth, and leadership in faith activities.
Our goal is to help students find and experience the God within themselves and in the world around them. We strive to challenge each other within a welcoming environment of dynamic worship, fellowship, and hospitality as we prepare young adults for their active roles in the church and the world.
