JOB DETAILS
Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, the Executive Director of Major Gifts will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of a comprehensive major gift and stewardship program. This position will serve as the team leader for all major gift activity of the University.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Personally manage a group of 125 major gift prospects.
-Hire, train, direct, coach, evaluate, monitor and supervise the major gifts team.
-Develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts plan.
-Cultivates major gift donors.
-Develop strategies, programs, and proposals with development staff members, faculty, and deans for the attainment of six figure gifts.
-Prepare written and oral presentations and proposals as needed and provide staff support to the University President, Vice President, and volunteer leadership engaged in major gift activities.
-Document contacts and solicitation plans.
-Travel as necessary to cultivate and solicit major gifts.
-Plan, organize, staff and monitor the operation of the Research Office.
-Develop and implement a comprehensive Research program to identify potential donors with giving capacity rated at $25,000 or higher.
-Coordinating with the Major Gifts and gift accounting staff, develop and implement a full comprehensive stewardship plan.
-Ensure gifts received by the University are used in accordance with the donor's intent, as initially agreed by the University.
-With the Executive Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, plan and implement a series of group cultivation activities aimed at engaging in the life of the University alumni with the potential to make major gifts.
-Develop and manage a cadre of volunteer Faculty members able to help identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit major gift donors.
-Confer with appropriate administrative personnel to secure closure of the gift.
-Develop and participate in a system of prospect identification and evaluation.
-Attend all major University fundraising events and represents the University in a positive light to donors, prospects, and other constituent groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in development (preferably in a higher education setting) with demonstrated strengths in leadership, organization, and communication. Major gifts, capital campaign, and alumni organizational experiences are desirable. He/she must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be capable of interpreting the qualities and benefits of a Catholic and Lasallian education.
