POSTION SUMMARY
The Executive Director of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton, working with and at the direction of the President and CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System, and/or her designee, and the Foundation's Board of Directors shall direct, coordinate and oversee activities of the Foundation in accordance with their purposes. The Executive Director has the ability to integrate Foundation concerns and influences from the external environment into a comprehensive decision making framework based on a holistic view of the Foundation and its relationship to the larger society in which it functions. The Executive Director, through collaborative efforts with other health and human service agencies as well as Catholic Social Services of the Youngstown Diocese, assists in the identification of programs to address unmet needs consistent with the ministries of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. Additionally, the Executive Director is responsible for all administrative and grant disbursement and monitoring functions of the Foundation's work. The Executive Director shall act as the duly authorized representative of the Board of Directors in all matters in which the Board of Directors has not formally designated some other person to act.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director shall:
-Ensure that all activities of the Foundation are carried out in accord with the philosophy of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine and the code of regulations of the organization.
-Serve as the liaison officer and resource person to the Board of Directors and its Committees.
-Work with the Sisters of Charity Health System on parent organization committees and task forces as needed and keep the Foundation's Board and staff apprised of activities.
-Assist in the planning and implementation of Sisters of Charity Health System's family workshops, staff work session, and orientation activities as needed.
-Provide administrative oversight of the daily operations and strategic direction of the Early Childhood Resource Center on behalf of CSA Mercy Ministries, a subsidiary of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
-Develop annual goals, objectives and an implementation plan for the Foundation and in conjunction with the Board and staff, conduct a yearly review and provide a status report.
-Develop, maintain, and review Board of Directors and staff orientation/education programs to communicate the philosophy, mission and strategic vision of the Sisters of Charity Health System and of this Foundation ministry.
-Prepare an annual budget in conjunction with the Board Treasurer and the Sisters of Charity Health System finance staff and with input from all Board Committees and staff.
-Develop, implement and monitor the Foundation's operating and capital budgets in coordination with the Sisters of Charity Health System's finance department.
-Ensure that all Foundation programs operate according to prescribed federal, state and local regulations.
-Respond strategically to challenges and trends impacting poverty in the community served and identify strategies to shape these issues and trends.
-Ensure that an ongoing evaluation process for the Foundation's grantmaking procedures and grantees is in place and reported to the Board of Directors.
-Develop, review and maintain grantmaking application and review procedures that ensure that all grantmaking is tracked and monitored and is in keeping with the guidelines of the Foundation.
-Develop an overall communication plan to effectively communicate the Foundation's strategic initiatives and focus areas, as well as the mission and functions of the Foundation to the community and coordinate with the Sisters of Charity Health System communications staff as necessary.
-Work closely with the leadership of Mercy Medical Center, the Early Childhood Resource Center and any other local Sisters of Charity Health System sponsored ministries to develop mutually beneficial projects responsive to new and/or unmet needs.
-Select, employ, supervise and discharge employees for the Foundation and develop appropriate operational policies and procedures to administer the Foundation.
-Develop and oversee the implementation of appropriate systems to facilitate the day to day operations.
-Conduct an annual review of each employee and develop yearly staff goals.
-Oversee and direct Foundation staff involvement in activities related to and financial commitments to strategic initiatives: Quality Child Care Initiative; W.K. Kellogg SPARK Initiative (Five-year, $4.1+ million grant); The Bethlehem Project for Oral Health; and Prescription Assistance Network for Stark County.
-Oversee Foundation and staff involvement in community, statewide, and/or national partnerships, collaborative efforts, initiatives, and/or advocacy or public policy efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Non-Profit Organizations, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, Education or related field or commensurate experience; minimum of five years experience in health and human service organizations; demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience in working with governance of not for profit organizations; well developed oral and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skills; and a demonstrated commitment to understanding and implementing the philosophy, values and ministry goals of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine and comfort in working in a faith-based organization are required.
