JOB DETAILS
The Development Assistant will have responsibility for collaborating with the Director of Institutional Advancement to carry-out a comprehensive fundraising operation that includes direct mail, proposals to individuals and foundations, planned giving, events, and one-on-one meetings. The Development Assistant will play a key role in developing and executing strategies for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts at all levels.
The responsibilities of the Development Assistant include:
- Weekly maintenance of grant proposal and report deadlines.
- Daily tracking of departmental action items.
- Drafting grant proposals, solicitation letters, informational letters, and other forms of correspondence.
- Prepare and submit timely acknowledgements and program status reports to donors.
- Working with the Director to manage the storyboard, deadlines, and other duties associated with the College's magazine, Communitas, as well as drafting articles.
- Identifying prospective donors through research.
- Measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives.
- Drafting detailed budgets for projects.
- Ensuring quality control for all correspondence.
- Other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must have:
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- The ability to multi-task numerous items at once and meet all deadlines.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
- Willingness to travel on occasions.
- Ability to generate ideas, prioritize assignments, and work independently under tight deadlines.
- Ability to respond quickly to new opportunities and changing priorities.
- Solid problem-solving skills.
- A high level of ethics, integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
The position is entry to mid level, salary based upon experience. Understanding and appreciation of the spiritual, intellectual, and institutional heritage of the West is strongly desired. Experience in fundraising or sales is a plus, but not necessary.
