The Position: Vice Principal for Student Affairs and Scheduling
Location: On Campus in San Juan Capistrano, CA
Responsibilities:
This key student leadership role supports the Principal in carrying out the mission of the school, supporting excellence in educating young men and women through a strong spiritual and academic program.
The Vice Principal of Student Affairs and Scheduling is responsible for the following:
- Supervise student registration process, student activities programs, balanced budgets, and moderators to insure high quality activities and extra-/co-curricular programs (excluding athletics).
- Work with the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Instruction to create the master schedule and place students into classes, mediate/facilitate parent/student/teacher communication regarding academic issues, and identify and monitor students on academic remediation programs.
- Supervise all ASB moderators, budgets, programs, and activities including production of the school newspaper, yearbook, and fine arts productions to insure that all activities, programs, and publications are consistent with the school's spiritual mission.
- Coordinate academic reports prepared at the mid-quarter, quarter and semester as well as on going deficiency notices.
- Supervise the production and reading of the daily announcements, coordinate Red Ribbon week and key student programs.
- Assist the Principal with faculty and student orientation and attend to administrative assignments or responsibilities as specified. Also assists with hiring and limited supervision of staff.
- Chair the Awards Committee for selection of student award recipients and other committees as designated. Participate on other school committees as assigned.
The ideal candidate for the position of Vice Principal of Student Affairs and Scheduling will:
- possess a thorough knowledge of, and the ability to, apply Roman Catholic doctrine and spiritual practices within a dynamic academic environment.
- earned secondary teaching credential
- hold or be near completion of an advanced degree in educational administration
- have at least three years of progressive high school administrative experience including student scheduling
- have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, leadership, and administration
- be highly motivated with strong organizational, problem solving, and oral/written communication skills.
- possess a strong disposition toward working with administration, students, and parents to achieve the educational mission of the school.
Personal Characteristics
- Ability to work independently, exhibit excellent judgment and follow through on projects and job duties.
- This position requires the ability to lead, manage projects and staff and work well as a team player.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage/maintain confidential information is mandatory.
