JOB DETAILS
IGNATIUS PRESS, a Catholic not-for-profit publisher, has an immediate opening for a Controller. This position reports to the Director of Finance. The duties will involve wide ranging responsibilities, and will include financial analysis, cost accounting, month end closing activities, financial reporting, budgets, controls and procedures, preparing for annual financial audits, and cross training and back up to other key accounting positions. Successful performance of this position will require an adaptable and energetic individual willing to roll up the sleeves and become involved at a detail level in Ignatius Press' total business and operations.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the implementation of a new accounting software package and the development of key internal controls and business processes and reports necessary to meet operational, reporting and compliance requirements
Potential candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Four year degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in accounting
- CMA, CPA, or MBA or equivalent preferred
- 5+ years of hands on management accounting experience
- Strong fundamental knowledge of GAAP and accounting controls, public accounting and not-for-profit experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer savvy; strong PC skills using MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Access; SQL query language and database familiarity
- Ability to work independently. Analytical, proactive, assertive
- Proactive with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities while meeting critical deadlines.
Preferred qualifications, but not required, include:
- Familiarity with publishing environment
- Job costing experience
- MSG Elan Bookworks software experience
