JOB DETAILS
St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish, a 2,500 member church in
Scotch Plains, NJ in the Archdiocese of Newark, is seeking a
part-time high school youth minister to work with our high
school youth. Candidate must possess a strong catholic
background and be a dynamic presenter able to interact and
lead boys and girls ages 14-18. Youth minister must know, love
and be able to concretely present the teachings of the Catholic
Church to the youth of today utilizing modern technology, guest
presenters, approved programs and fundamental tools such as
the bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Current
youth group meetings are held each Sunday evening beginning
with the 5:00 pm youth mass immediately followed by a
meeting which ends at 8:00 pm. Selected youth minister may
revise current schedule as needed or required. Must work well
with adult volunteers and parish chaplain in providing positive
environment for high school youth fostering a sense of catholic
community while encouraging individual growth for each youth
member. Must be well organized, detailed and able to
coordinate and manage: (weekly) meetings; faith formation for
high school youth; prayer services; monthly praise and worship
holy hour (Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament); one weekend
(youth run) retreat each year; fund raising activities; social/fun
events; social outreach, youth volunteering and community
interaction; diocesan and world catholic awareness; and other
such activities as recommended or suggested by the pastor,
youth chaplain and/or youth ministry team. Ideal candidate will
possess youth ministry certification and have minimum two
years experience working with high school youth. Must
participate in "Protecting God's Children" certification. Salary &
