JOB DETAILS
PRINCIPAL
VANCOUVER COLLEGE
Vancouver, British Columbia
Founded in 1922, Vancouver College (VC) is an independent Catholic elementary and secondary school (K-12) served by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice. An all-boys university-preparatory school, VC's elementary and secondary programs have a combined population of over 1,000 students. Vancouver College, highly renowned for its academic excellence and its high level of participation in extramural sports, has dedicated staff committed to providing today's Christian young men with educational experiences that will lead to the development of their whole persons: culturally, emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and, in particular, spiritually.
With the current Principal stepping down in June, 2009, an exciting opportunity now lies for a new Principal to continue Vancouver College's rich traditions, propelling the school forward with passion and energy with a strong vision for the future. Reporting to the Board, the new Principal will be accountable for providing overall leadership and direction of VC. As the educational leader of the school, the new Principal will be responsible for preserving, promoting, articulating, and instilling in the faculty, students, and parents the vision and ideals of Catholic Education and its protocols in VC. Adhering to the Board policies and to the traditions of Blessed Edmund Rice, the Principal will engage in future planning, setting of goals, and policy development, as well as continuing VC's long history of academic excellence, campus ministry, and active community involvement
As the ideal candidate, you are a practicing Catholic educator with a demonstrated successful track record as a school administrator, likely in a large Catholic educational environment, ideally working with both elementary and secondary students. A strategic and visible leader, you are engaged in all aspects of student life, and possess the maturity, political savvy and professional demeanor to generate respect and inspire confidence from all stakeholders.
