JOB DETAILS

We are seeking an experienced Editor for our publishing company, which specializes in traditional Catholic books and Bibles.

As the Editor, you will plan and arrange the acquisition and substantive editing of manuscripts and publishing projects. As a member of the Acquisition Department, you will help recruit and work with authors to develop manuscripts according to a publishing schedule you set and maintain. You must exhibit excellent editing skills, a solid grounding in Catholic beliefs and practices, discernment regarding projects' worth and viability, and the ability to work within (and help to shape) the publishing house's vision and mission. While reporting to the Publisher, you will work in collaboration with marketing staff to identify new market and product niches.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; Graduate degree preferred
- 5+ years experience in book publishing, preferably in the acquisitions process
- Ability to acquire and evaluate manuscripts
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Strong analytical and business skills
- Exceptional follow-through, author management, organizational skills and deadline management
- Knowledge of contracts and copyright
- Desire to produce needed, well-developed materials
- Availability to travel
