JOB DETAILS
Job Purpose:
To administer the development and fundraising activities at Serviam Girls Academy, and to procure and ethically manage the resources necessary to carry out its educational mission.
Development Plan
- Sets goals and assists in the organization of the Development Plan
- Ensures the implementation of the Development Plan
- Works with the Executive Director and the Development Committee of the Board to evaluate and modify the Development Plan
- Works with the Executive Director to secure additional staff or consultants to implement plan
Donor Cultivation and Solicitation
- Assists the Executive Director and Board in development of prospect lists
- Serves as the major contact, along with the Executive Director, for donors, organizations and foundations
- Develops and recommends cultivation and solicitation materials
- Works with Communications committee to customize materials for prospects and donors
- Prompts the Executive Director on relationship building, solicitation timelines and deadlines
- Assists the Executive Director and Board members with school visits of prospective donors
Foundations and Grants
- Manages the grant writing process and writes grant proposals
- Signs inquiry letters and grant applications
Donor, Public and Media Relations
- Identifies and arranges public speaking opportunities for the President
- Develops, recommends and implements donor, public and media relations events
Written and Electronic Communications
- Evaluates current communications
- Develops and recommends communication improvements and new opportunities
- Writes the majority of the content for communication vehicles: newsletters and the Annual Report
- Works with the graphic designer, consultant and printer to produce communication vehicles
Student Sponsorship Program
- Recommends program details
- Coordinates printed materials and special reports to sponsors
- Manages all stages of the sponsorship process
Annual Fund -- Direct Mail Appeals
- Assists the Executive Director in planning timeline for annual fund appeal
- Collaborate with Communications committee on print materials for the appeal
- Manage the process of appeal with mail house and other sub contractors as appropriate
Board Liaison and Support
- Supports Board members and development volunteers in utilizing their skills, talents and relationships in the development process
- Recommends development training topics to the Executive Director
- Reports to Board on development activities
Endowment and Major Gifts
- Strategizes with the Executive Director and Development Committee on endowment and future capital campaign goals, messages, needs, timeline and required resources
Gift Processing
- Writes regularly updated thank you letter templates
- Supervises the Fundraising Coordinator's gift processing responsibilities, including timely delivery of thank you letters
Database Management
- Maintains a database of existing and prospective donors
- Supervises database management responsibilities
- Researches, coordinates and recommends changes to database software or set-up
Fundraising Events
- Sits on all event planning committees and serves as liaison back to the Academy
- Develops and recommends event materials, format and arrangements
Organizational and Community Networking
- Attends NativityMiguel Schools Development Institute in the Fall

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least two or three years experience in fundraising and development in a small to medium-sized nonprofit
- Self-motivated team player with strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with data entry and database management, preferably Donor Perfect
Also necessary:
- Integrity, honesty and a sensitivity to confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure and with regular interruptions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access
- Ability to coordinate, implement and complete multiple concurrent tasks
