Schedule: Part-time; Primarily evening and weekend hours during the academic year

POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Women's Soccer Coach is responsible for the development, maintenance, and advancement of an effective and competitive NCAA Division III Women's Soccer program consistent with the Franciscan University Athletic Department mission of forming disciples, developing leaders, and pursuing excellence. The recruitment and formation of quality student-athletes in this program is integral to the position. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects relating to the program to include the ongoing, holistic development of the student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Game day strategy and coaching, making in-game adjustments.
2. Plan and execute practices and training programs for both the individual player and the team. Sets goals and expectations for both the individual player and the team.
3. Promote the spiritual development of each student-athlete and a team culture where the Catholic faith and Christian moral principals are integrated into the daily activities and program.
4. Promote the academic development of each student athlete and a team culture of academic excellence.
5. Comply with all relevant NCAA and PAC conference rules and regulations and communicate with prospective student athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations/coordinate visits with the Admissions Office.
6. Coordinate with other Athletics staff members and other university departments on logistical issues such as contest scheduling, team travel, field/venue scheduling/maintenance, and game day preparation.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or direct report.

REQUIREMENTS
Must understand, support, and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

Work Experience
• 2-3 years of Head Coaching experience at a competitive level
• Knowledge of or aptitude to learn NCAA and DIII rules.
• Collegiate soccer coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
• Recruiting experience and/or knowledge of recruiting prospective students preferred.

Competencies
• Technical/Functional Skills: Actively seeks out ways to practice and continually improve the required skills or knowledge to build a successful soccer program.
• Verbal Communications: Very good communicator. Uses effective speaking and listening techniques to ensure clear and actionable communications.
• Developing Self: Continually assesses own skills and identifies areas that can be further improved.
• Decision Quality: Effectively blends analysis, experience, and intuition in the decision-making process.
• Dealing with Ambiguity: Works well in situations where there is no single right answer.

Education
• Bachelor's degree required.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.

Technical Skills
• Demonstrate effective coaching skill, knowledge of coaching tactics in the development of the student-athlete and the ability to promote a positive culture.
• Implementation of daily practice plan and competition strategy.

Workplace Factors
• Must be able to schedule matches in a timely manner to be able to report game scores and statistics after games.
• Must be able to work with the AAD for Transportation to coordinate travel and capability/willingness to drive a 12-passenger van.
• Must be a team player who collaborates with Athletic Department personnel and other coaches and is open to direction from Athletic Department Leadership.
