1. Bilingual speaker of English and Spanish. While this position teaches in English, Spanish is used in staff meetings and communications with parents.
2. Teaching experience in middle school math and science and certification are preferred
3. Excellent spoken and written language skills in both English and Spanish

Working at Escuela de Guadalupe includes many different responsibilities to make a small, non-tuition driven school run effectively. Therefore, this description is not intended to be all-inclusive as much as it is to help define what some of the major responsibilities will be. All Middle School faculty members will be expected to participate in school life including attendance at faculty meetings, overnight retreats, Masses and prayer services, and school celebrations. As the Middle School grows, these duties will shift to reflect the changing dynamic of the Middle School.
1. Middle School math and science instruction in English - one 6th and 7th grade class of each subject during the first year.
a. Plan and implement thematic units for math and science based off of the curriculum
b. Engage students in active, purposeful learning through a variety of activities beyond textbooks and worksheets including performing experiments in science and investigating real world math uses
c. Continuously evaluate student growth in each subject including formative and summative evaluation to assure maximum student progress
d. Maintain strong classroom management to create a positive classroom environment built on relationships, high expectations for student achievement, risk-taking, goal-setting, and personal responsibility
e. Communicate frequently with students, families, administration and staff to keep everyone up to date on what is happening in the classroom and engaged as a part of the team.
2. Additional duties:
a. Helping run and define the substance for morning meeting classes to create a program that supports our students' social-emotional growth
b. Supervision duties including homeroom, carpool, snack, lunch, and recess.
c. Teaching two or more specials classes including study hall and life skills. These classes, such as technology and gardening, expose the students to areas of interest outside of the traditional classes.
3. Carry out the mission and goals of the school
a. Build positive relationships with adults and children in the school
b. Model a respect for cultural and linguistic diversity
c. Be positive about children in communication with students, parents, and co-workers
4. Embrace Catholic religion
a. Apply knowledge of the Catholic faith to guide students in their study of Catholic religion and how they apply their faith to their decisions and actions in school and in the community.
b. Model how Catholic virtues play a role in bringing peace and justice to ourselves and others
c. Incorporate the study of Catholic religion, liturgy, prayer and song in daily rituals and religious education
