Visitation School, an all-girls school in the St. Paul, Minnesota area, seeks a Director of Upper School to begin July 1, 2017. With an enrollment of 332 girls and a faculty of 35 the school offers a comprehensive college preparatory program of academics and co-curricular opportunities. The Director is afforded considerable autonomy in leading the Upper School while reporting directly to the Head of School and serving as a member of the Head's administrative leadership team.
Initially founded in 1873 by six sisters of the Order of the Visitation, the school followed the teachings of the Order's founders, St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal. Permeating the school are virtues derived from Salesian spirituality, such as gentle strength, simplicity, hospitality, and cheerful optimism. The school's motto - Non Scholae, Sed Vita; Not for School, But for Life - reflects Visitation's commitment to educating the whole child. Visitation's mission, to provide an excellent education within a Catholic environment, constitutes a backdrop for an educational experience that shapes a lifetime. The school is located on a beautiful sixty-acre campus in Mendota Heights, close to both Minneapolis and St. Paul. Visitation is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Central States and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
The Director of the Upper School will be responsible for the supervision of programs of the Upper School and assuring their congruence with the other divisions. The Upper School offerings include a full array of academic courses, interscholastic athletics, various co-curricular activities, college counseling, and a one-to-one laptop program. The new Director will be expected to set a positive tone of mutual respect, cooperation, spirituality, and attention to individual needs. Through leadership in hiring, evaluation, and professional development, he/she will assure the highest quality of faculty instruction and professionalism.
Preferred candidates for this position will possess secondary teaching, administrative, and curriculum development experience in a comparable academic setting; an advanced degree; effective communication and interpersonal skills; an eagerness to embrace Visitation's mission and values; a commitment to single gender education for young women; and genuine enthusiasm and personal warmth.
Please send inquiries and/or an application including a letter of interest, resume, statement of educational philosophy, and list of 3-5 references (name, contact information, relationship to candidate) to: Doug Jennings, Partner, Educators' Collaborative, LLC, email@example.com, phone: 317 319 2936.
