Hours per Week: 40

Starting Salary: $24.14 hourly

Telework Available: Hybrid 1 day after 90 days of training

Position Description:

MRS Intake & Referral Specialist of Catholic Charities Diocese of the Arlington (CCDA), Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), is primarily responsible in gathering, reviewing, and analyzing eligibility documentation for new client enrollments. The intake specialist will be responsible to ensure the intake process and the assessment resettlement, employment, training, legal and health needs of newly arrived Afghan parolees. Additionally, this position will assist program staff by aiding in the documentation and communication process.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support resettlement staff in gathering, reviewing, and analyzing eligibility documentations.
• Schedule potential clients for intake services.
• Review client eligibility documentation and obtain copies of documents.
• Assist resettlement staff in conducting initial client intake.
• Open new case files (hard files) for all intakes and enter enrollment data in MRS databases.
• Reconcile data by conducting routine file reviews both hard copies and in multiple databases.
• Have an ability to quantify and qualify data.
• Become familiar with and responsible for data management in multiple databases.
• Work closely with Refugee Cash Assistance and Refugee Employment services staff.
• Answer, screen, and forward incoming service requests as needed.
• Create hospitable environment for those who walk-in for services including monitoring front reception area and providing resources to individuals seeking assistance.
• Maintain office security by following safety policies and procedures.
• Provide referrals and basic information to clients and other walk-ins not eligible for services.
• Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning.
• Make referrals to in-house programs and external social service providers.
• If applicable, translate and interpret as needed to help clients comprehend services.
• Assure compliance with all required reporting as needed
• Attend and participate in team meetings and trainings as needed.

Qualifications & Skills :

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Bilingual in English and one other language spoken by clients required: Dari, Pashtu, Arabic, Amharic
• Must be sensitive to the service population's culture and must have the ability to communicate in a culturally competent manner.
• Should be detail orientated and able to multitask
• Must be proactive and create a cooperative and positive relationship with clients and US Ties
• Must be able to assist clients to solve difficult problems under pressure.
• Must be able to consistently work towards self-sufficiency with all clients and reflect the mission and the goals of Catholic Charities with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Attend regular supervision meetings, case consultations, and assist with the development of crisis mitigation strategies.
• Able to keep informed of the social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where clients are resettling.
• Flexible to work irregular hours.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Office products.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two (2) years of previous direct work experience in a culturally diverse environment. (Preferably refugee resettlement).
• Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Microsoft, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and have at least three years of driving experience. Willing to drive clients.

Sitting for periods of time and some light lifting up to 25 lbs.
