Job Description

Position Title: Math Teacher (5th-8th Grade) Location: St. Martin de Porres Marianist School, Uniondale, NY. Position Type: Full-Time Start Date: September 1, 2026. Salary range of $50-$70k negotiable based on experience & degree.

Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and faith-driven 5th-8th Grade Math Teacher to teach 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra I. The ideal candidate will be committed to academic excellence, demonstrate strong classroom management skills, and integrate Catholic values into daily lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with New York State standards and Catholic educational principles.
Teach core 5th-8th grade math content, including problem-solving, number theory, algebraic concepts, geometry, and data analysis.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support student success.
Incorporate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Collaborate with fellow faculty, administration, and support staff to promote a positive, respectful, and faith-based learning environment.
Participate in school-wide events, liturgies, professional development, and extracurricular activities as needed.
Model Catholic values through interactions with students, colleagues, and the broader school community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
New York State teaching certification in Mathematics (Grades 5-9 or 7-12) required.
Middle School Extension (Grade 5-6) preferred.
Prior teaching experience in elementary or junior high school setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of junior high school math curriculum and best instructional practices.
Ability to integrate faith, values, and morals into the curriculum.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Availability to supervise, moderate activities, or coach athletics at least 2 afternoons a week in the afterschool program (4:00-5:15 PM).
