Job Description

Job Title: Lead Barista
Category: Full Time, Year Round
Location: Tahosa Coffee House at Camp St. Malo, near Estes Park, Colorado
Reports To: Manager of Tahosa Coffee House
Compensation: Hourly - Pay Range: $14.42 - $18/hour before tips. Pay commensurate with experience, additional role(s), and housing needs.
Start Date: ASAP

If you want the experience of being on mission at a coffee house in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, serving delicious drinks, giving an unforgettable experience to people stopping to visit Camp St. Malo from all over the world - this position may be for you.

Tahosa Coffee House is located at Camp St. Malo near Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, Colorado - home to the beautiful St. Catherine's Chapel (the Chapel on the Rock). Mt. Meeker, a 13,911' peak, serves as the backdrop of our property and the 100+ year old stone building where the coffee house resides.

We are looking to find a faithful, hospitable, skilled individual to serve full-time, year-round here at Tahosa and Annunciation Heights, our sister property. Applicants should be excited to extend true Christian hospitality to our guests while working in a fast-paced atmosphere in our busy season, with coffee shop experience (which is preferable) or the eagerness and ability to be trained as a barista. Our goal is to provide a space to aid transformative encounters with Christ through our joyful, professional service and outstanding products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparing all styles of coffee drinks, tea drinks and other specialty drinks
• Warming and serving pre-made food
• Handling cash & other forms of payment
• Making proficient sales transactions using our point-of-sale system (Square)
• Maintaining proper cash drawer balances
• Having thorough knowledge of St. Malo property, mission, and history
• Having knowledge and a heart for the mission of Camp St. Malo (the property on which the coffee house is housed) and Annunciation Heights (our sister property)
• Demonstrating impeccable product knowledge
• Able to make recommendations and suggestions to customers
• Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
• Stocking coffee, food, cups/lids, etc. throughout the shift
• Properly labeling and dating perishable items and using the first-in,first-out (FIFO) system
• Keeping up with dishwashing as-needed
• Performing opening, closing & side duties - setting up/breaking down the self-service station, cleaning countertops & tables, sweeping/mopping the floor, etc.
• Properly cleaning and maintaining our coffee equipment
• Answering questions accurately and with charity
• Encountering the person in front of you with interest and respect
• Knowledge of inventory/ordering
• Knowledge of making our homemade syrups
• Handling customer feedback and concerns with patience and kindness
• Working and collaborating with the coffee house manager to operate Tahosa in all of its different facets
• Working weekends
• Marketing Tahosa Coffee House to social media platforms
• Contributing to the growth and refining of the particular mission of Tahosa
• Working to some capacity at Annunciation Heights during Camp St. Malo/Tahosa's slow/seasonal closure time

Other Duties:
• Performing duties which require bending & reaching
• Lifting & transporting boxes of inventory/glasses/dishes, etc.
• Standing or walking on the floor, for up to 8+ hours
• Maintaining a well-groomed appearance
• Following all uniform guidelines
• Practicing all safety & sanitation standards
• Recycling products as diligently as possible
• Remaining calm in a fast-paced atmosphere
• Demonstrating a high level of organization, attention to detail and a sense of urgency
• Displaying a joyful demeanor toward coworkers and customers
• Maintaining Annunciation Heights & Camp St. Malo's Values and Mission Statement

Full-Time Benefits:
• You will be provided with a Paid Time Off (PTO) accrual rate equal to 22 days annual (6.77 hours per pay period) with a maximum accrual of 30 days.
• Additional paid holidays including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
• Employer paid contribution equal to 6% of your annual salary to the lay pension plan.
• Future salary and merit increases are discretionary.
• Standard business expenses - those documented in accordance with standard operating policies of the Archdiocese will be reimbursed.
• Your employment with the Archdiocese is at-will and either you or the Archdiocese may terminate the relationship at any time.

Full-Time Requirements:

• The Archdiocese must receive a background report that is free of information detrimental to your filling the position.
• You must provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States upon the first day of employment.

Personal Attributes: Hard working, good collaborator, joyful, patient, personable, adaptable, able to work under minimal supervision.

Education/Experience: Previous cafe, coffee shop, or restaurant experience preferred.

Special Skills/Equipment Requirements:
- You will need a car to get to/from work.
- You may need to complete a Serv-Safe (or related food-safety) course if you do not already have a currently valid certificate.
