Job Description

Communications & Short-Form Video Content Creator

St Teresa of Avila Church seeks a creative, mission-driven individual to develop engaging short-form video content that highlights parish life, promotes ministries, shares faith-filled messages, and inspires participation in the life of the Church. The ideal candidate will be skilled in storytelling through platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, while understanding the unique mission and values of a Catholic parish community.

Primary Responsibilities

Content Creation
Create, film, edit, and publish short-form videos (15-90 seconds) that promote parish ministries, events, outreach programs, and faith formation opportunities.
Develop creative concepts that communicate the mission of St Teresa of Avila Church in an engaging and authentic manner.
Capture parish life through interviews, event highlights, volunteer spotlights, ministry features, and testimonials.
Produce inspirational content featuring Scripture, saints, Catholic teachings, parish traditions, and pastoral messages.
Social Media Management

Maintain a consistent publishing schedule across TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
Monitor trends and adapt appropriate social media techniques while ensuring content reflects Catholic values and parish standards.
Create compelling captions, titles, hashtags, and calls to action.
Respond to comments and messages as directed and help foster a welcoming online presence.

Ministry Promotion
Collaborate with ministry leaders to identify stories, events, and volunteer opportunities worthy of promotion.
Highlight parish ministries, including faith formation, youth ministry, social outreach, liturgical ministries, community events, and service projects.
Promote seasonal parish initiatives during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and other significant liturgical celebrations.

Video Production
Record video footage using smartphones and basic video equipment.
Edit videos with attention to quality, clarity, branding, and engagement.
Incorporate graphics, subtitles, music, and parish branding elements as appropriate.
Maintain an organized digital archive of content and media assets.

Strategic Communication
Assist in developing a parish digital communications strategy focused on evangelization and engagement.
Track content performance and provide periodic reports on audience reach and engagement.
Recommend new ideas and opportunities to increase awareness of parish ministries and events.

Qualifications
Experience creating content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or similar platforms.
Strong video editing skills using mobile or desktop editing software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to tell compelling stories in a concise and engaging format.
Familiarity with social media trends and best practices.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with parish staff and ministry leaders.
Respect for Catholic teachings, values, and parish culture.

Preferred Qualifications
Practicing Catholic or demonstrated understanding of the Catholic faith and parish life.
Experience in communications, marketing, journalism, media production, or digital storytelling.
Graphic design and photography skills.
Knowledge of parish ministry structures and Catholic evangelization efforts.

Position Type: Part-Time (Flexible Hours) on site and remote, including evenings and Sundays for content
Reports To: Chief of Staff or Creative Director
