Job Description

Position Title: Athletic Director
Location: Holy Trinity Diocesan High School, Hicksville, NY
Reports To: Principal

Position Overview

Holy Trinity High School, a Catholic high school in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, is seeking a devout and mission-driven Athletic Director to lead its athletic program. The Athletic Director will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all athletic activities, ensuring that athletics is not only a place for competition, but also an opportunity for faith formation, character building, and community witness.

This is a role for a committed Catholic leader who will make faith a priority in athletics, uphold the mission of Catholic education, and inspire coaches and students to integrate prayer, sportsmanship, and excellence into every team and program. This role is best fit for someone who values collaboration and seeks new and innovative ways to build the Athletic program.

Key Responsibilities

Faith & Mission
• Serve as a devout Catholic witness, actively living the sacramental and prayer life of the Church.
• Ensure athletics reflects the mission of Catholic education, where faith and sportsmanship come before victory.
• Collaborate with campus ministry, faculty, and coaches to build a Christ-centered athletic culture.
• Support student-athletes in their growth as disciples of Christ.

Program Leadership & Oversight
• Direct, coordinate, and evaluate all athletic teams and programs.
• In conjunction with school administration, recruit, hire, supervise, and form coaches who are committed to Catholic mission and professional excellence.
• Develop and manage athletic schedules, transportation, and facility use.
• Prepare contracts as needed for field, gym, and outside facilities rentals, including all necessary insurance for both parties.
• Oversee compliance with diocesan, league, and state regulations.
• Uphold rigorous standards of safety, health, and protection of minors in every program.
• Provide tours of the facilities for prospective athletes in conjunction with the Admissions Office.
• Attend most home games and many away games in which Holy Trinity is participating, including special tournaments and events, which may include nights and weekends.

Communication & Collaboration
• Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, coaches, other Athletic Directors throughout the NSCHSAA, and students.
• Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure athletics complements the holistic development of students.
• Represent the school's values with integrity in all interactions and external relations.
• Attend regularly scheduled Athletic Directors' meetings.
• Navigate families through the NCAA process when applicable.

Finances, Fundraising & Advancement
• Create Athletics budgets with appropriate spending for equipment, facilities, salaries, and referees/umpires.
• Communicate upcoming expenditures - both expected and unexpected - to the Principal and CFO for approval.
• Work directly with Leading Edge as a fundraising entity and support its initiatives through strong communication
• Creatively design and lead additional fundraising initiatives to enhance athletic programs and facilities.
• Partner with advancement staff and parent organizations to cultivate support for athletics.
• Steward donors and benefactors with professionalism and gratitude.

Professionalism & Integrity
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
• Maintain accurate records, budgets, and reports for all athletic operations and share with school administration on a regular basis.
• Serve as a role model for students, coaches, and the wider community.

Qualifications
• A practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings of the Church and the mission of Catholic education.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in athletic administration, coaching, or related fields.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Commitment to the highest standards of student safety and the protection of minors.
• Creativity and initiative in program development and fundraising.

Other Information

Salary for this position is commensurate with experience, with a range of $75,000 to $110,000. Full benefits package available if elected. Standard working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an expectation of attending night and/or weekend games/events with regularity. Candidates with school building/district level leadership training/certification are encouraged to apply.
