Job Description

DIRECTOR OF LITURGY AND MUSIC

St. Therese, Little Flower Parish, a joyful, vibrant and welcoming Catholic Community in the heart of South Bend, Indiana, next door to the University of Notre Dame, is seeking a Director of Liturgy and Music who will be responsible for the music program and work with our Mass Coordinators to plan for our weekly liturgies.

The ideal candidate for this position would possess the following qualities:

- A lover of Jesus and our parishioners
- A practicing Catholic in good standing, with a commitment to promoting a culture of prayerful and joyful liturgies ("Make a joyful noise unto the Lord" - Ps. 100:1).
- Possess a good knowledge of the liturgy and the place of music in the liturgy.
- Ability to play both the organ and piano.
- Ability to sing and lead the congregation in worship.
- Ability to recruit and work effectively with choir and other musicians.
- Ability to lead rehearsals for cantors and the choir.
- Ability to incorporate various genres of sacred music, traditional and contemporary, as well as praise and worship into the liturgy.
- Ability to manage the musical instruments and choir repertoire.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clergy, staff and parishioners.
- Ability to take initiative.

Additional Information:

1) This is a full-time exempt position with benefits according to diocesan and parish policies.
2) Salary is negotiable and commensurate with education, experience and ability.
3) The Director of Liturgical Music reports directly to the Pastor.
4) Scheduled hours will include weekends, Holy Days, major feast days, and events as needed.
