Job Description
TITLE: Evangelical Charity CoordinatorDEPARTMENT: Evangelical Charity & Mission Integration
POSITION SUMMARY
The Evangelical Charity Coordinator is a missionary disciple called to inspire and mobilize the Catholic community within the Archdiocese of Detroit to live out the Corpora Works and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Under the leadership of the Mission Integration and Evangelical Charity Manager, this role supports a coordinated effort to promote Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan (CCSEM) programs and fosters authentic Catholic service to the poor and marginalized service that must be "A clear witness to Jesus our Lord" (Unleash the Gospel, Marker 8.4) Through intentional service opportunities, this position seeks to facilitate encounters with Christ - for those served, for volunteers, and as a public witness to the broader community. As Pope Francis teaches in Evangelii Gaudium (no. 87): "Each individual Christian and every community is called to be an instrument of God for the liberation and promotion of the poor... This means that we are to be docile and attentive to the cry of the poor and to come to their aid." In this spirit, the Evangelical Charity Coordinator works in solidarity with the Catholic community across the Archdiocese - partnering with parishes, schools, fraternal organizations, and mission partners to advance evangelical charity efforts.
