Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate for this position performs pregnancy tests and limited obstetric ultrasounds exams. Also educates client on fetal development and provides medical advocacy for clients by providing support through community referrals.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sonographer performs the following functions:
• Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures per policy/Standing Order/Clinic Manager/Medical Director guidelines.
• Provides education on fetal development to client.
• Evaluates clients stated needs to determine appropriate services; creates and maintains client records.
• Provides medical services, education, and community referrals within the scope of her licensure and/or training.
• Participates in In-service, update calls and other trainings and conferences as directed.
• Complies with federal, state, and licensure, supervision, and professional continuing education and requirements.
• Obtains and remains current with CPR certification.
• Commitment to ongoing study to maintain and advance scanning skills.
• Greets clients and creates an appropriate Client-Advocate relationship by providing support in a pleasant and non-judgmental tone. Provides excellent customer service.
• Assists client in completion of forms relevant to client needs.
• Participates in prayer as an integral part of each day for mobile staff and volunteers; shares the Gospel in deed and Word as the Spirit leads.
• Coordinates client follow-up, ensuring appropriate services are provided in accordance with the discharge care plan.
• Conducts client follow-up calls and documents results as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver's license and insurance.
• Working knowledge of OB anatomy/physiology; willingness to perform different types of scans: Transvaginal and abdominal.
• Must possess a current license/certificate in her medical profession and function in accordance with Florida licensing requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) required.
• One to three years of relevant professional experience in a clinical or medical setting.
• Previous experience in obstetric nursing, public health nursing, or nursing management is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while performing ultrasound procedures.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to operate ultrasound equipment and assist patients.
• Ability to safely assist patients on and off the exam table, including bending, reaching, twisting, and occasional lifting (typically up to 25 pounds).
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination, sufficient to perform diagnostic imaging and operate technical equipment.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Occasional exposure to emotionally sensitive situations and topics, including crisis pregnancies.
