Job Description
Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church is seeking a mission-driven Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead and oversee the parish's Religious Education programs for children (Kindergarten-8th grade) and adults.The DRE, under the direction of the pastor, will articulate a vision for catechesis, manage sacramental preparation, recruit and train volunteer catechists, and implement engaging curriculum rooted in Church teaching. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration, administrative and communication skills, as well as a deep commitment to the Catholic faith.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead parish-wide faith formation for children, youth, adults, and catechists
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists; provide ongoing formation and evaluation.
• Oversee programs, including the following:
• Catechetical formation for children in grades K-8
• Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation preparation for children
• Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
• Order of Christian Initiation of Children (OCIC) and Special Sacraments
• Provide life-long family formation and adult faith formation opportunities
• Continue personal theological, spiritual, and professional development
• Manage faith formation budgets, schedules, records, and communication
Qualifications:
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
• Passionate about evangelization, Catholic education, and formation of community
• Master's Degree in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies or Education with a major focus in Theology or Religious Studies.
• Three years' experience as a catechist or teacher.
• Experience with administration, especially working with volunteers and program planning.
