We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused insurance professional to join our Claims Department as a Claims Representative.Position Overview
The Claims Representative is responsible for managing insurance claims from initiation to resolution. This position verifies coverage, adjusts claims directly or assigns claims to independent adjusters, authorizes payments or denials, and ensures timely, accurate communication with insureds, claimants, and adjusters.
Key Responsibilities
• Receive claim assignments from insureds and verify applicable coverage.
• Adjust claims directly or assign claims to independent adjusters.
• Instruct independent adjusters on handling procedures, review adjuster reports, and authorize settlements.
• Process claim payments and ensure claim files contain adequate documentation to support payment decisions.
• Review insureds' claims history and advise on risk and coverage concerns.
• Communicate with clients, claimants, and adjusters verbally and in writing throughout the claims process.
• Follow all procedures and guidelines outlined in the Claims Manual.
• Maintain detailed and accurate claim documentation.
• Handle emergency calls during non-business hours as required.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the Claims Department by working collaboratively with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in property and/or casualty adjusting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; extensive telephone contact required.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple claims and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.
