Claims-Risk Manager

Job Description

Catholic Mutual Group (CMG) is the leading provider of property, liability, and employee benefit coverage and related services for the Catholic Church across the United States and Canada. We are currently seeking a Claims/Risk Manager to join our team at our Galveston-Houston service office in Houston, TX.

Position Overview
The Claims/Risk Manager is responsible for managing property and casualty claims while supporting risk management initiatives across insured locations. This role includes conducting investigations, evaluating liability and coverage, and negotiating fair settlements. In addition, the position provides proactive risk management services such as safety inspections, contract review, and development of risk prevention resources. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while delivering strong service and sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities
• Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate fair and equitable settlements for property and casualty claims
• Perform accident investigations and on-site inspections
• Verify insurance coverage and assess liability exposure
• Conduct safety inspections and provide risk management recommendations
• Review contracts and communicate sound risk management practices
• Develop and deliver safety and risk management materials for seminars and client distribution
• Travel regionally to support client needs and on-site services
• Respond to emergencies and claims-related issues outside regular business hours as needed

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum five years of property and casualty claims adjusting experience required
• Prior risk management or safety experience preferred
• Understanding of Catholic Church procedures and hierarchy preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while following direction
• Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making ability
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required
• Willingness to travel and work occasional irregular hours, including nights and weekends
