Job Description
We Are One BodyR Radio makes its best attempt to offer a "window into the life of the Catholic Church" for its listeners. Therefore, one of WAOBR Radio's primary programming goals is to offer the Magisterial Teaching of the Catholic Church, including the teaching of the Holy Father and the bishops in union with him. In order to accomplish this, WAOBR Radio broadcasts the teaching of the Popes every day (voiced over in English), and also broadcasts the homilies and teachings of many different bishops. Priests, in their supportive role to the Holy Father and the bishops, offer commentary and insight regarding those teachings. The priests also offer meditations on the sacred scripture, the Saints, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and much more. The prayers of the Church aired on We Are One BodyR Radio, including Holy Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, and devotional prayers, also play a prominent role in offering our listeners a "window into the life of the Catholic Church".Host and Audio Technician
We Are One BodyR Radio is looking for an individual who feels called and is excited about participating in the We Are One BodyR Radio mission. WAOBR is looking forward to hiring a new team member that will fill a dual role of on-air host and audio technician. As an on-air host, you would be responsible for providing two-minute hosting slots at the beginning of each hour, as well as offering program details and commentary over program themes and music. Having a deep understanding and love of God and the Church, as well as a willingness to listen to the Holy Spirit, are invaluable assets to being an effective host on WAOBR. WAOBR produces its own programming, and this is where your skills as an audio technician will be needed. As an audio technician, you will be responsible for becoming an expert with the audio equipment necessary to do your job. You will also be responsible for recording, editing and databasing the WAOBR Radio programming. In both roles, you will need to work very closely with your co-workers. A genuine love of others, attention to detail, and a desire to constantly grow in your skillset are all required to succeed in this job. You will be a member of a team of between five to seven members, who will coordinate their work schedules to cover the necessary hours - 7 days per week, between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm. In general, every team member will "share the load" in covering these shifts; including holidays. There will be dedicated time for spiritual formation, to pray together, to discuss and grow in the technical aspects of your job, to discuss ways to grow in your hosting, and to learn more about the music broadcast on WAOBR.
Host - Job Responsibilities:
• To take adequate time to prayerfully prepare for your on-air hosting, integrating the "life of the Church", the day's scheduled programs, and your personal experiences into every hosting slot.
• To intimately understand the everyday "life of the Church", so you can pass that knowledge on to the listeners. For example: the details regarding the liturgical season we are in, the upcoming Church events, the upcoming feast days and solemnities, and the relevant history of the Church.
• To be diligent in keeping the On-Air logs running in the correct time parameters and maintaining the proper broadcast audio levels.
• To air and record live events such as Masses, on-air conversations, the Liturgy of the Hours, and devotional prayers.
• To be familiar with the many Liturgical celebrations of the Catholic Church.
• To familiarize yourself with the many Rites of the Catholic Church; especially those being broadcast on WAOBR
Audio Technician - Job Responsibilities:
• To work together with the We Are One BodyR Radio staff to record, edit, and prepare audio files for broadcast.
• To study and continuously grow in proficiency regarding the operation of the technical equipment necessary for your work.
• To study and continuously grow in proficiency regarding the use of the software necessary to record, edit, broadcast, and podcast the WAOBR Radio programming.
• To maintain a constant desire to create and broadcast the highest quality audio possible for the WAOBR listeners. At the same time, we must show patience with the WAOBR talent, because most of them will have very little, if any, radio experience.
• To be detailed and accurate in your work, especially in editing audio files, in the database entries, and in the passing off of information between shifts.
• To be diligent and prompt regarding meetings, recordings, data entries, program broadcasts, and deadlines.
• To manage audio recordings as well as live events from the studio.
• To manage an on-going to-do list that will assist you in maintaining a clear overview of your daily and weekly responsibilities.
• To be willing to work with bishops, priests, prayer groups, and co-workers; being patient and willing to work around everyone's busy schedule.
• To take on responsibility for additional special projects as they are assigned.
• To have the ability to complete one's daily tasks in a timely manner, without supervision.
Host and Audio Technician - Job Requirements:
• To maintain an on-going prayerfulness regarding your work. Making your best effort at listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
• To be open to the truth that the entire Body of Christ must work together to make We Are One BodyR Radio the best it can be.
• To fully understand that it is about getting the Body of Christ involved in WAOBR Radio; not showing partiality to individuals with good "radio voices".
• To have a well-rounded understanding of the Catholic faith.
• To be able to write short, concise summaries of homilies and other teachings.
• To be detail oriented in all your work.
• To be gracious and tactful when dealing with your co-workers, bishops, priests, prayer groups and listeners.
• To be willing to offer and accept constructive criticism.
• To be willing to work evenings and weekends and alternating Holidays. (Morning shift - 5:30am to 1:30pm; Afternoon shift - 9am to 5pm; Evening shift - 1:30pm to 9:30pm. Your scheduled days off on a weekend will vary: Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday, or Sunday/Monday.)
• To thrive in an environment where you will be required to multi-task.
• To thrive in an environment where deadlines must be met; sometimes requiring a quick turnaround (When the file you are editing will air in 5 minutes, etc.)
• To be very detailed oriented in database entries, and maintaining an accurate on-air program schedule.
• To have a deep love of our Lord and God and of His Catholic Church
• To have an unwavering belief in the Truth found in the Magisterial Teaching of the Catholic Church
• Previous radio experience is helpful, but not required.
