Director of Music Ministries

Job Description

St. Ann Catholic Parish is seeking an energetic, faith-filled, and accomplished Director of Music Ministry to help our parish communities encounter Christ through beautiful, prayerful, and engaging liturgical music.

This full-time leadership position is an opportunity to shape the musical life of two vibrant worship communities. Working closely with the Pastor, clergy, parish staff, choirs, cantors, instrumentalists, and liturgical ministers, the Director will foster the full and active participation of the assembly and ensure that music serves the sacred action of the liturgy.

The ideal candidate will be both a gifted musician and a pastoral leader-someone who can honor the Church's rich musical tradition while thoughtfully incorporating contemporary Catholic music appropriate to the communities we serve.

Primary Responsibilities
•Plan and lead music for Sunday Masses, holy days, the Sacred Triduum, sacramental celebrations, funerals, and other parish liturgies.
•Direct and develop choirs, cantors, accompanists, instrumentalists, ensembles, music staff, and volunteers.
•Recruit and form new musicians while cultivating shared leadership within the ministry.
•Strengthen congregational participation through thoughtful repertoire selection, preparation, education, and evaluation.
•Collaborate with clergy, parish staff, and liturgical ministers to create cohesive and prayerful celebrations.
•Coordinate rehearsals, schedules, worship resources, communications, and facility needs.
•Administer the music-ministry budget and maintain copyright compliance.
•Oversee the care of parish instruments, including pianos and organs, music libraries, and sound equipment.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
•A bachelor's degree or higher in music, or at least 5 years of successful experience as a Director of Music Ministries.
•Two to five years of experience in a parish music program, including planning, directing, accompanying, and working with diverse music ministries.
•Strong knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and the role of sacred music in worship.
•Proficiency in a broad range of Catholic musical styles, from traditional to contemporary.
•The ability to recruit, train, supervise, motivate, and develop staff and volunteers.
•Excellent organizational, communication, and pastoral skills.
•The ability to manage multiple schedules, projects, and deadlines with flexibility and professionalism.

This is a full-time salaried position averaging approximately 40 hours per week. The schedule includes agreed-upon office hours, evening rehearsals and events, weekends, holy days, and other special liturgical celebrations.

St. Ann is a medium-sized, active parish with roughly 750 registered families located in the heart of Gulf Breeze, FL. Our Lady of Assumption Mission has roughly 150 registered families and is located just a few miles away on Pensacola Beach.
