Director of Evangelisation and Discipleship

Job Description

St. Pius X Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, is seeking a full-time Director of Evangelization and Discipleship.

The Director of Evangelization provides coordination, formation, implementation, and direction of evangelization efforts in the parish and school community. The Director of Evangelization and Discipleship shepherds the overall vision for evangelization and faith formation.

The goals of the position include fostering conversion and growth in discipleship among the faithful, developing a welcoming community, and moving and equipping parishioners to evangelize by witness, word, and action.

The Director of Evangelization leads the Evangelization Team, which is responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive strategy and implementation for evangelization. To lead the parishes' Evangelization and School teams into effective evangelization, which includes the teams from faith formation, school, youth and young adult, music and liturgy, and sacramental preparation.

Essential Duties:

-Develop and implement strategies for evangelization and reach out to both active and inactive parishioners
-With the Evangelization Team you will direct, create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive approach to evangelization for youth, young adults, adults, school families, and all areas of the parish.
-Implement opportunities for growth through retreats, workshops, speakers, and prayer groups. Additionally, implementing programs such as Alpha, That Man Is You, The Rescue Project and Small Christian groups, Parish Missions, etc.
-Develop New Welcome and Hospitality/Funeral Ministry and Grief Ministry. Grieving people often feel overwhelmed by the simple tasks of daily life, and when we as a parish meet the needs they cannot meet for themselves, they feel the love of Christ through His church.
-Collaborates with the Pastor and Pastoral Associate to ensure that all liturgical functions and family activities are welcoming and engaging.
-Be able to participate fully in the practice of the Roman Catholic Faith. Maintain confidentiality in all parish matters

Education / Experience:

• Excellent Public Speaking to small and large groups.
• Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Psychology, Sociology, or another related field is required.
• A Master's Degree in Theology or other related field, or at least five years of professional experience and ongoing formal education is preferred.
