Job Description

High School Teachers
(ALL DISCIPLINES)

Reports To: Vice Principal of Academics/Department Head Job Status: 10 months, full-time, exempt
Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate with experience; please see the compensation charts. This position is eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school match, higher education tuition reimbursement, and JSerra tuition discount of 50% off base tuition for each dependent child or legal guardian designated child who attends JSerra.
Description: Applicants will be full-time teachers able to instruct high school students in multiple subject areas and follow written curriculum lesson plans. This individual must be faithful to the teachings of the magisterium of the Catholic Church in all aspects of his or her personal and professional life and will be a role model for high school students. Applicants must embrace the Mission and Philosophy of JSerra Catholic High School.

Responsibilities
• Planning, preparing, and delivering curriculum and daily lessons to students in class
• Assigning work, correcting, and marking work carried out by students
• Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behaviors of students
• Providing oral or written assessments, reports, and references relating to individual students
• Communicating, consulting, and cooperating with other members of the school's staff
• Advising and co-operating with the Department Chairs and Administration; and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programs, and methods of teaching and assessment
• Participate and attend In-Service education, weekly Mass, and professional development training
• Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school
• Supervise students outside of the classroom, such as at lunchtime or during detention
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Teaching experience at the high school level strongly preferred
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills - both in writing and as a speaker
• Proficiency in the development of curriculum at the secondary level
• Strong expertise and knowledge of subject area being taught
• Proficiency in assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records via the school's on-line grading program
Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree required
• Prior high school teaching experience strongly preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to perform occasional light lifting and carrying; standing and walking; and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Occasional hand use and finger dexterity needed to use computer keyboard and operate standard office equipment; occasional pushing, pulling, grasping, and reaching may also be required. Good hearing is required when communicating on the telephone or in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described herein is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential function of this job. Primarily office environment with controlled temperature conditions and exposure to environmental factors and hazardous physical substances are minimal and pose little to no risk of injury. Occasional driving to meetings and/or events may be required.
