The Coordinator of Life, Justice, and Peace supports the mission of the Archdiocese of Baltimore by advancing the evangelization of parishioners and residents through the promotion of Catholic social teaching on respect for human life and bioethical issues. Reporting to and assisting the Director of the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace, the Coordinator builds strong, collaborative relationships with pastors, parish leaders, and volunteer networks to strengthen Respect Life initiatives, prison ministry, and parish social ministry across the Archdiocese.
This role develops and curates formation programs and resources, coordinates events and outreach efforts, responds to legislative developments affecting life and justice concerns, and produces clear, timely communications (including newsletters, policies, campaigns, and digital content) to mobilize and equip the faithful. The position also supports additional office and Institute for Evangelization initiatives as needed
Essential Functions:
Promotes the evangelization of all residents and parishioners of the Archdiocese of Baltimore to believe in and live out the social and bioethical teachings of the Catholic Church.
Builds supportive relationships with pastors across the Archdiocese.
Leads Respect Life initiatives within the Archdiocese of Baltimore, including forming and supporting parish-based Respect Life Coordinators and committees.
Develops formation programs for Respect Life Coordinators.
Promotes the moral formation of parishioners, manages annual events, and networks with pro-life leaders.
Serves as a liaison with pregnancy resource centers.
Assists the Holy Innocents Ministry leader with aspects of infant burials and the growth of the volunteer base.
Creates regular communications, including newsletters, formation materials, policies, email campaigns, letters, and social media content, to promote the work of the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace.
Supports parish social ministry efforts and helps guide them toward evangelizing models, including:
Creating networks of parish social ministry leaders for ongoing formation.
Supports additional initiatives of the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace, including but not limited to Camp GLOW, prison ministry, disability ministry, deaf ministry, and new programs.
Position Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic in good standing, supportive of the full breadth of Catholic social and pro-life teachings.
Self-motivated, with strong networking and creative problem-solving skills, and driven by mission.
Two to three years of experience in related ministries, such as Respect Life or social justice.
Skilled in engaging and mobilizing volunteers and bringing projects to completion.
Familiarity with modern software and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, WordPress, Adobe Express/Canva, Cognito Forms, and Ministry Platform/Flocknote is preferred.
Excellent writing skills, including digital communications, professional correspondence, newsletter creation, and training documentation.
Experience training volunteers, planning events, and/or leading retreats is preferred.
Knowledge of and familiarity with the structure and functions of the Archdiocese of Baltimore is preferred.
This is primarily an in-office position at the Catholic Center in Baltimore, with some opportunity for remote work.
Travel to parishes, organizations, conferences, and events is required.
Periodic attendance at evening and weekend events is required.
Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Theology, Religious Studies, or a similar discipline.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Demonstrated intercultural competency.
Pay Range: $60,000 - 65,000, annualized
