Job Description
SUMMARYThe Director of School and College Counseling, in consultation with the Principal, is responsible for carrying out school policy and implementing all guidance services including testing, career and college information, college placement and the developmental guidance program for Central Catholic High School ("CCHS"). The successful candidate will understand and embrace the mission of CCHS, the Marist charism and Catholic education; possess superior character and integrity; demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills. This position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025 (or soon after) and reports to the Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Establishing clear and measurable outcomes for the Department of School & College Counseling in accord with the mission priorities of the school.
2. Comprehensive planning and implementation for all school counseling services and programs.
3. Evaluating school counseling programs and services according to established metrics.
4. Coordinating with the CCHS Director of Innovation and Academic Technologies to ensure optimal use of technology in the delivery of school counseling services.
5. Coordinating with the Principal and Academic Dean on recommendations for student course changes, evaluating transcripts of transfer students, verifying academic grade reports and permanent records, the orientation of students in the course selection process and other related matters.
6. Consultation with school counseling staff and key stakeholders throughout the continuous cycle of planning-implementation-evaluation-improvement.
7. Assigning duties among the school counseling staff according to the comprehensive plan.
8. Managing school counseling programs and staff on a day-to-day basis.
9. Managing school counseling office equipment and resources.
10. On an annual basis, developing a proposed operating budget for the school counseling department; managing expenses according to approved budgets.
11. Supervising and evaluating professional and paraprofessional school counseling staff.
12. Oversees the transcript processing of present students and alumni/ea.
13. Keeps current with initiatives in the area of school counseling through involvement in professional guidance organizations.
14. Other duties as assigned that are consistent with the forgoing responsibilities and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES
Director of School and College Counseling directly hires, supervises and evaluates School Counselors, Learning Specialist(s), School Adjustment Counselor(s) and the department Administrative Assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Five (5) years experience in high school counseling, preferably in a Catholic high school.
2. Master's degree in school counseling or related field.
3. Thorough understanding of and commitment to the mission of Central Catholic High School and the Marist philosophy.
4. Understanding of and enthusiasm for the effective integration of technology in the delivery of Guidance and other student services.
5. Effective communication, collaboration, organization, team and leadership skills.
6. Prior experience in program planning and the supervision and management of staff is preferred.
7. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
