Job Description

The Director of Stewardship and Development cultivates and grows the resources of the parish and promotes habits of good stewardship. The Director leads fundraising, development and stewardship efforts for the parish by educating parishioners and donors on the needs for the financial support of the mission, goals and programs of the parish and soliciting current and planned giving support for the assigned areas of ministry. The Director is responsible for budget and management of the office. The Director provides leadership to various departments and ministries on fundraising, and writes grants for the parish, which includes the school.

- Create strategies that promote one-time and annual gifts.
- Lead efforts to build knowledge and acceptance of stewardship as a way of life by offering adult-learning opportunities.
- Investigate stewardship programs and create and maintain the parish weekly giving program.
- Encourage giving opportunities for the parish and school endowments.
- Work with the pastor to derive a list of the current parish needs and updates the list of potential giving opportunities for potential donors.
- Coordinate all fundraising activities of the parish, including appeals and special events.
- Plan and direct departmental activities; provide leadership and guidance within the department; implement programs, guidelines and parish policies.
- Maintain close working relationship with all parish staff/departments to ensure coordination and collaboration in all areas of fund development.
- Manage long-term development activities including major gift and planned gift cultivation and solicitation for all parish programs and offices.
- Build and maintain relationships with constituents throughout the parish including parishioners, donors, staff, local businesses and other professionals.
- Research grant opportunities and applies for grants on behalf of the parish, which includes the school.
- Perform administrative duties related to acknowledgement letters, year-end tax letters, and all other development-related duties.
- Oversee and participate in the preparation of budgetary and other reports and records; review monthly financial statements, budgets and operating plans.
- Carry out future and/or current campaign fundraising and oversee the collection of all capital campaign pledges.
- Work with the Diocesan Office of Stewardship & Development in donor relations and the Annual Catholic Appeal

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
- Demonstrate previous experience in stewardship, communications, and/or development.
- Progressive development experience overseeing successful fundraising programs.
- Demonstrate ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently, including developing and maintaining effective recordkeeping systems.
- Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Has a "Service Mindset" when working with others.
- Highly motivated and a self-starter.
- Professional working attitude and collaborative approach.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
