Job Description

The Diocese of Boise Pastoral Center is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Development who is responsible for providing stewardship education and fund development for the diocese, and educating parishioners and donors on the needs of the diocese. This position develops time, talent and financial resources to meet present and future needs of the diocese and its parishes.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The essential mission of the Bishop depends upon successful fundraising and fund development efforts. The Coordinator of Development facilitates the Bishop's mission by creating funding for essential programs and services. The Coordinator of Development works with the Finance Officer in maintaining effective stewardship of Diocesan resources, creating new opportunities and promoting appropriate financing of Diocesan programs. The Coordinator of Development also serves as staff to the Idaho Catholic Foundation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Recognize and support the mission, policies and practices of the Catholic Church and Diocese of Boise.
-Demonstrates a deep understanding of the formative principle of Christian Stewardship and provides the proper instruction and resources for priests and parishes in the area of stewardship education.
-Actively collaborates and assists pastors, parish leaders, diocesan personnel, and volunteers to advance the overall mission of the Church in the Diocese of Boise.
-Directs and has responsibility for researching and writing grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, and Catholic funding organizations.
-Directs and has responsibility for planning, organizing, and managing the Idaho Catholic Appeal. This includes written material, direct mail, in-pew solicitation, major donor solicitation, training, and multi-channel marketing.
-Directs and has responsibility for planned giving program, including written material, print and digital marketing materials, identifying prospects and donors, and providing knowledge and estate planning information necessary to secure or promote planned/deferred gifts.
-Builds and maintains positive relationships with existing and potential donors, including major donor recognition and planned giving societies.
-Assists the Bishop of Boise in building relationships and soliciting gifts to advance the overall ministry of the Church.
-Collaborates with the Communications Office to effectively communicate the mission of the Diocese of Boise.
-Collaborates with the Finance Office regarding financial accounting and stewardship of funds, database management, gift recording, donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and other issues related to development.
-Assumes other stewardship and development duties as assigned.
-Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills to effectively serve as Coordinator of Development.
-Ability to meet qualifications of parish and diocesan safe environment policies and successfully pass a criminal background check.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Baccalaureate degree in area relating to marketing, public relations and fund development.
- Four-eight years of experience as a stewardship and development professional with demonstrated success in fundraising.
- Skilled at interfacing with clergy, parish staff, and parish volunteers respectfully and professionally.
- Superb organizational skills with the ability to plan and execute complex events and meetings.
- Experience in managing and cultivating donor relationship and securing major gifts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Camino database software.
- Demonstrated dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.

- Have a positive attitude toward the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its structures, functions and institutions.
- Strong ethical values.
- Known for honesty and integrity, especially in matters of confidence.
