High School Music and Choir Teacher

Chesterton Academy of St. Benedict, a classical high school in the Catholic tradition, seeks a talented and joyful teacher to teach music history and performance on a part-time basis for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The music sequence is an essential part of the Chesterton Academies' curriculum and required for all students every year. In our inaugural year, the music teacher will be responsible for implementing a curriculum focused on basis musicology, and ancient and medieval music. As the school grows, the position can evolve to include other levels including renaissance, classical, and modern choral music. The music teacher will also serve as the all-school choir director and will be responsible for secular and religious performances. Successful applicants will have a BA degree or higher in a music-related field. Professional experience will also be considered.

The candidate shall be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.

The position is part-time, beginning August 2024, with a competitive salary based on experience.
