Job Description

Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Campus Ministry Chaplain-Fr. Steve Mateja: St. John Fisher, Oakland University

Summary/Objective: "The Gospel is most effectively shared in person-to-person encounters. Such on-the-spot evangelization can be prepared for and enhanced by programs, and processes, and media, but cannot be replaced by them"

The Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator will serve at the campus of Oakland University and St. John Fisher; working directly with the Catholic Campus Group at OU, the assigned FOCUS missionaries, and the Chaplain at the Campuses.

The Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator works directly with the Chaplain and Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator to serve the mission of CCM by working to evangelize college students. The Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator will conduct a variety of pastoral and administrative tasks to assist the Chaplain in his ministry, including donor relations.

Essential Functions:

- Work collaboratively with the Chaplain to fulfill the mission Catholic Campus Ministry at Oakland University.
- Coordinate the campus ministry program goals, by creating opportunities for fellowship and intentional evangelization.
- Aid in communications with students and student leaders regarding programs, events, and leadership opportunities.
- Coordinate with the Chaplain and Campus Ministry Engagement Coordinator on event planning and organization of campus ministry.
- In cooperation with the CCM Chaplain, work identify potential benefactors who through generosity, will aid in the support the development efforts of CCM at Oakland University.
- Create a Smartsheet database with benefactors contact information and history of outreach.
- Collaborate with student organizations that share common values and faith interests, e.g. Catholic Student Society, CASA (Chaldean American Student Association), Students for Life, Other Faith Based groups, etc.
- Develop and coordinate opportunities for engagement and evangelization with new students, develop a database of incoming Catholic students and alums
- Help Fr. Steve develop an Oakland University Alumni Association
- Coordinate service opportunities for students which provide opportunities of accompaniment and Sharing the Gospel.
- Act as point of contact for vendors on outlined campuses.
- Assist with various administrative tasks and responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming and engaging presence for students
- Work to connect students with the work and mission of CCM
- Submit expense reports and reimbursement requests in a timely manner

- Knowledge of and support for the teaching of the Catholic faith
- Passion for Christ and the work of evangelization
- A desire and an ability to work with college students
- Must have the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands:

- Position requires the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work.
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing/or pulling of objects and materials (5-50 pounds).
- May involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a keyboard or workstation.
- May involve repetitive motion (i.e., typing).
- May involve walking long distances and climbing stairs.

Travel Required:

Oakland University and to the Parish Church of St. John Fisher across the street.

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university program or equivalent combination of education and work experience with demonstrated successes.
- At least two years' experience in campus ministry.
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office.
- Two years' experience in a leadership role.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

- Aptitude and willingness to learn new computer applications including project management and customer relationship management.
- Keyboard at the net corrected rate of 50 WPM.
- Must be able to work with discretion and in confidence with all information.
- Must have the ability to work independently with little direction.
- Communicate effectively both written and verbal.
- Ability to work with a variety of projects, simultaneously.
