Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our Christian group travel company. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and the ability to handle the unique financial aspects of the travel industry, including commission tracking and multi-currency transactions.

Responsibilities:

-Accurately record all daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, including sales revenue (from passengers, airline tickets/fees, hotels, etc.), expenses, purchases, and payments.
-Manage accounts payable (vendor invoices from suppliers and service providers, etc.) and accounts receivable (client payments and outstanding balances), ensuring timely processing and follow-up. These often involve foreign currency.
-Perform monthly bank and multiple credit card reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of all financial data and identify discrepancies.
-Liaison with the CPA and coordinate the year-end close.
-Track and reconcile stakeholders' commissions, which often involve complex structures and payment schedules.
-Assist with payroll processing, using the ADP Run platform, including tracking employee work hours, expenses, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
-Process 1099s in January of each year on the federal and state levels.
-Prepare and generate weekly financial reports, plus monthly trip profit and loss statements, quarterly profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows.
-Manage Human Resources: Ensuring all new employees are properly welcomed, have the necessary paperwork completed, and understand company policies.
-Onboard new employees to the ADP platform.
-Keep accurate and confidential employee files.
-Pay monthly bills and issue checks as needed.
-Manage travelers' account receivables and refunds through proprietary reservations software.
-Review monthly invoices, accounts payable, and credit card statements for accuracy
-Respond to client calls regarding trip cost and invoices

Qualifications:

-Experience: Proven experience as a bookkeeper, with at least 3-5 years of professional bookkeeping experience.
-Accounting Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge and proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.
-Accounting Principles: A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - GAAP).
-Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and reconciliation processes.
-Organization & Time Management: Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
-Industry Preference: Prior experience working within the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry is highly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of industry-specific financial transactions.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on patience and workplace diplomacy.
-Ability to multitask, set priorities, and pivot as the day and situation require.
-Understanding of Christian faith and principles is a plus.
-Excellent customer service skills.
