Job Description
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?Modern Animal is a boutique marketing and innovation agency serving mission-driven brands and traditionally-minded businesses. We're looking for a part-time Account Manager who is ready to roll up their sleeves and wear multiple hats as we grow.
This role starts as a hybrid of Account Manager and Account Coordinator responsibilities-ideal for someone who can lead with confidence but is also willing to handle execution and detail work while we scale. For the right person, this is a growth opportunity with strong long-term potential, including a path to increased hours, management responsibilities, and even partial ownership.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as the day-to-day liaison for assigned clients, managing communication and ensuring satisfaction
• Track timelines, deliverables, and budgets across multiple projects
• Help manage creative and marketing workflows in collaboration with contractors and internal team
• Write project briefs, develop campaign outlines, and assist with proposals and presentations
• Lead or support client meetings, status updates, and presentations
• Review creative assets and marketing copy for accuracy, quality, and brand alignment
• Provide research support (competitors, audiences, market trends) to aid strategy and execution
• Collaborate on internal process development and documentation
• Assist with onboarding new clients, and support client acquisition when appropriate (eligible for commission)
• Contribute to implementation in a technical or creative skill area (e.g. copywriting, design, SEO, social media)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Hard Skills
• Experience managing client accounts in a marketing or creative agency setting
• Project management fluency (timelines, task tracking, quality assurance)
• Writing and editing skills for client communication and content review
• Familiarity with digital marketing strategies (content, ads, email, etc.)
• Experience preparing proposals, presentations, or briefs
• Comfortable using tools like Asana, Slack, Google Docs, Figma, and ChatGPT
Soft Skills
• Friendly, confident communicator with professional polish
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Growth-minded and adaptable to shifting priorities
• Able to work independently and anticipate client needs
• Comfortable in a flexible, fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Baseline Compensation
• Part-time employee starting Hourly Rate: $28.97-$37.26/hour starting (hybrid role blending Account Coordinator and Account Manager duties)
• Upon promotion to full Account Manager: $33.65-$46.63/hour
Additional Compensation
• Sales Support and Client Acquisition: Hours spent on sales will be compensated based on commission (between 5-15% of total project value)
• Creative and Marketing Project Work: Opportunities for increased hours and creative work ($33.65-$39.42+/hr)
• Equity Option: Available for highly qualified candidates committed to long-term growth

CAREER PATH & ADVANCEMENT
This role is designed to evolve. As the agency scales, the Account Manager will shift focus away from execution and into team and client leadership. High-performing candidates may be considered for roles such as Senior Account Manager or Account Director overseeing multiple client relationships and team members.
